I began working as a pediatrician in 2008. I love what I do. Dr. Gable's Bookshelf grew out of my enjoyment of listening to books and my long commute. As a way to share the knowledge I have gained, I started writing book "reviews" on some of my favorite pediatric related reads. I share these with my patients...and now, with you. I hope you find them useful and fun!
We all need play!
“Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul” by Dr. Stuart Brown
As a retired special education teacher/administrator for over 30 years, mom of 2 adult children and self proclaimed tree hugger, one of the best and most important skills you can share with your children is being outside and non structured play. My children spent most of their growing up years hiking in the mountains, playing in streams looking for salamanders and climbing trees. I highly recommend it!
